The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management, Design & Construction, is seeking a highly motivated, experienced professional to be responsible for the successful outcomes related to the commissioning of building systems and quality objectives of capital improvement projects including but not limited to HVAC, building envelope, utilities and access and security to help ensure that systems are constructed for optimal system and function performance as intended by each individual project design. Projects have a high level of complexity and can be high profile and have a greater impact on the operations of the institution

Master's degree in engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
3-5 years of practical experience in building systems design or project management.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and problem solving skills.
Requires a broad based knowledge commissioning activities both during design and construction.
Strong working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical work including construction contract document preparation and administration; specification preparation and interpretation; and a basic understanding of current federal, state, and local environmental rules, regulations, and building codes.
Proficient in computer software applications.
Familiarity with construction site safety guidelines.
Ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization.
7-10 years of practical experience in building systems of which 4-5 years should have been spent in building engineering design or project management, facilities management or commercial construction management.
Broad based knowledge of HVAC systems, including energy management system interfaces.
Extensive leadership and interpersonal skills in order to effectively represent institutional commissioning and quality control expectations by promoting and insuring positive interaction between participating internal organizations, design professionals, construction service providers, commissioning agents, and other service-providing parties.
Demonstrated skills and abilities to negotiate optimal and acceptable outcomes among competing opinions and interest.
Demonstrated ability to provide clarity and direction to complex and ambiguous problems and challenges.
Experience in a customer focused, team-oriented environment.
