At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we’re not only changing the way we treat cancer, but also the way the world thinks about it. By working together and pushing forward with innovation and discovery, we’re driving excellence and improving outcomes.
For the 27th year, MSK has been named a top hospital for cancer by U.S. News & World Report. We are proud to be on Becker’s Healthcare list as one of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare in 2016, as well as Glassdoor’s annual Employees’ Choice Awards 2017. We’re treating cancer, one patient at a time. Join us and make a difference every day.
As part of the Engineering Design and Standards group, the Construction Engineer (CE) provides engineering design expertise to Project Teams. The healthcare environment is large and multifaceted with complex engineering systems. It is essential that the systems are methodically and systematically planned and designed within prescribed standards and code parameters. Additionally, large and complex infrastructure projects must be integrated seamlessly into existing systems which require expert design, review and cost analysis decisions. Therefore, the CE directs Design Consultants, advises Project Teams and Plant Operations regarding all Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) systems for infrastructure, renovations and new construction.
You Will Also:
Ensure sound engineering, design, and implementation of MSK’s D+C Standards for all construction projects, including energy efficiencies of Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) systems, mechanical and structural integrity, environmental systems, and impact on the existing systems and plant.
Prepare technical reports for routine inspections and / or operation and performance problems of newly installed MEP systems and equipment. Be accountable for the official acceptances of these new systems on behalf of MSK.
Manage all project activities for assigned capital projects (<$10 millions per year) and is responsible for budget development and management (cash flow, budget, schedules, and timelines tracking, etc.). Prepare and reviews/approves contracts (with CM’s, consultants, vendors, etc.) and other documents.
Interact with engineering consultants on a daily basis during design and construction of all projects for the compliance of institution’s design standards and applicable codes.
Review engineering drawings and specifications for each project as prepared by engineering consultants to ensure quality of the construction documents.
During the design process, interact with Plant Operation and Shops for their input to keep the design in consistence with the existing systems, ensures that the construction documents are reviewed by the PO’s and the Shop, and obtain their sign offs.
Assist CM’s and MEP trade contractors during construction to resolve any field coordination issues to ensure proper maintenance accessibility to all new equipment. Interact with outside and in-house architects for the coordinations of MEP work.
