Dunwoody College of Technology currently has the need for a full time Instructor within its Construction Management program housed in the Construction Sciences & Building Technology department. The Construction Management program offers a certificate, an Associate’s degree, and a +2 Bachelor’s completion degree.
The Instructor will be responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining curriculum in line with current industry standards and practices, advising students, and building and maintaining relationships with industry. The Construction Management program is seeking to add facilities coursework to broaden its elective and required courses. Courses are delivered in day and evening and hybrid options, so the qualified candidate must be willing to exhibit flexibility in scheduling.
Dunwoody’s Construction Management programs provide students the information required to start a career in a related construction field. Themes prevalent throughout the program reflect industry standards and best practices, estimating, scheduling, project documentation, virtual modeling, ethics and the relationship of time, money and resources. Graduates of the Construction Management program will be suited to be leaders in the national construction industry.
Dunwoody values a hands-on, applied technical education, and the ideal candidate will have recent and relevant industry experience in Estimating, Scheduling, or project management. The ideal candidate will also have field experience and be passionate about sharing that knowledge through lab and hands-on activities rather than theory based assignments.
Selected courses the instructor may teach include:
Integrated Environmental Systems. Examine mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems using case studies to coordinate the integration of these disciplines.
Introduction to Facilities Management. Examination of the roles, responsibilities, and core competencies of the facility management profession.
Construction Safety. Examine the principles of construction safety and identify health hazards using the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 1926 Construction Industry Regulations and MNOSHA Laws and Rules. Emphasis is on OSHA 30-hour Construction standards, to develop strategies to prevent injuries on construction projects. Awareness education for asbestos, PCB’s (polychlorinated biphenyl), VOC’s (volatile organic compounds), mold and lead.
Construction Administration. Examine the requirements of Construction Administration using industry standard formats and procedures to understand the administrative requirements for their implications on a construction project. Principles of mitigating construction liability and risk are addressed through case studies and construction documents to select the appropriate method of risk management for a construction project.

Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or related field with a desire to complete a master’s degree.
3-5+ years MEP or recent and relevant facilities experience.
1-3 years jobsite training or teaching experience.
Knowledgeable in current software programs and technology.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently motivated.
Ability to express self clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Ability to use electronic technology and online resources to support the management and delivery of instruction.
Required Qualifications plus:
Master’s degree or PhD (or ABD) /JD/ EdD in a Facilities Management-related field.
10+ years recent and relevant facilities management experience.
3-5 years teaching experience.
Industry credentials and certifications, as necessary by individual course content.
Active membership and involvement in related industry organizations.
