Pay Grade 34. The Maintenance Specialist provides a safe, clean and attractive living environment for the UTC residential campus, primarily at the West Campus Housing location. This position will help perform maintenance on facilities, equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, etc.
Inspecting assigned buildings and grounds daily to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff and visitors.
Removing trash from collection rooms and other identified locations as well as maintaining the recycling area.
Maintaining the grounds, courtyard, and landscaping.
Removing snow, ice and other hazards when needed.
Setting up tables, chairs, podiums, etc. for events as well as clean the common areas as needed (sweep, vacuum, mop, wipe down tables and chairs).
Participating as needed with furniture removal, repair and replacement.
Reporting any building concerns to the maintenance supervisor in a timely manner for prioritization and entry into the work order system.
Assisting in minor maintenance repair tasks as assigned which may include but not limited to plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, doors and windows, commercial locks and hardware and small appliances.
Performing routine maintenance tasks such as replacing lights, changing filters, handling pest control, monitoring fire safety equipment, etc.
Assisting with preventative maintenance tasks of building and escorting vendors/contractors for approved room entry.
Monitoring security of doors daily and reporting any problems promptly.
Utilizing a maintenance management software to assess and prioritize work load.
Maintaining proper tracking of parts used and the description of completed tasks.
Tracking and reporting work completed in addition to assigned work orders.
Participating in an emergency after hours on call rotation with maintenance staff which requires a seven-day obligation for after hours and holidays.
Working weekends when required.
Representing the department to our students, staff and visitors in accordance with current policies and best practices to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
