Bellevue College is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Maintenance Mechanic 2 position in the Maintenance department. This is a full-time position and overtime eligible.
Essential Functions/Typical Duties
Operates and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings.
Performs independently and utilize a general knowledge of several related skill fields such as plumbing, electrical, welding, carpentry, and machinist work.
Operates hand tools, power tools and other shop equipment, performs welding and metal fabrication, and fabricates materials and equipment.
Repairs windows, doors, screens, floors, floor coverings, and painted surfaces; Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical connections, switches, circuits, electrical equipment, thermostats and valves.
Oil changes, lubrication, fix flats, repair lights, replace fan belts, etc., on shop equipment, vehicles and construction equipment.
Performs maintenance, operation and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution.
Constructs facilities in accordance with project requirements; assists in the preparation of engineering data under the direction of an engineer.
Monitors safety, fire protection and environmental control equipment to ensure building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition;
Responds to service request and secure necessary assistance; take preventive and emergency action to control malfunctions.
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction repair or work OR completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Ability to relate and communicate effectively with diverse students, staff and faculty
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Organized and able to work with both management and trade contractors.
Ability to listen attentively, identify issues and provide options to fulfill services.
Ability to manage time effectively.
