The Utilities Control Systems Technician, under general supervision, provides centralized coordination for the utilization of energy management control systems in campus facilities.
Required Education and Experience:
High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Three years in heating ventilation and air conditioning design or automated building operation control systems or completion of an apprenticeship/assistantship program in utility plant operations.
Required Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License within 30 days of employment. Inability to obtain a valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License may result in termination.
Active participation and completion of the Utilities Control System Technician section of the TAMU Control Technician Training Program with six months of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of DDC and pneumatic HVAC controls, calibration techniques, air balancing, and indoor air quality requirements.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Subject to yearly Motor Vehicle Record/driver license checks
Repairs and replaces HVAC sensors and other control devices
Calibrates electronic and pneumatic HVAC controls
Gathers information from HVAC systems needed to evaluate proper operation such as air temperatures, air pressures, water temperature, water pressure, motor RPM
Under direction, writes control codes for optimal control of HVAC systems
Assists Area Maintenance with hot/cold HVAC complaints
May need to operate a university vehicle to accomplish duties
