Directs the operations and staff of one or more areas of University Facilities Management and may be assigned overall responsibility for a specific functional area (e.g., custodial, maintenance, grounds, powerhouse). Develops strategic planning efforts for areas of responsibility, monitors and achieves established goals. Reports to Director, Operations, University Facilities Management.

Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Provide support and direction for specific functions of University Facilities Management through a team of professional, supervisory, support and skilled and semi-skilled staff to include one or more of the following: grounds, custodial, structures, utilities, powerhouse, zone building maintenance, HVAC, locksmith, Workforce Development, etc.
Establish unit's goals, objectives and strategies; develop and implement programs and services to achieve goals.
Monitor and review unit's budget and approve operating expenses; evaluate cost of services.
Identify and assess hiring needs; assist in managing personnel actions (e.g. hiring, termination, discipline, etc); conduct performance evaluations of assigned employees.
Maintain and implement safety policies and procedures; ensure employee's trained in all safety procedures and attend safety training sessions and programs.
Identify staff training needs and provide appropriate training either internally or externally.
Develop and implement responsive customer service programs.
Provides leadership and oversight of a large/complex department (e.g., department with multiple units).
Perform related duties as assigned.
Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, architecture or a relevant field of study; four to five years progressively responsible experience in three of the following: maintenance, structural, grounds, utilities, powerhouse or development and training; as well as supervisory experience of professional, support and skilled and semi-skilled employees.
Knowledge of budgeting
Skill to read, interpret and implement building plans and blueprints
Skill in written and interpersonal communication
Ability to provide leadership and direction
Ability to effectively apply a union contract

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus to other campus or community sites.
Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Must pass a security check.
