Contribute to new construction, renovation, energy and sustainability projects and renewal projects by reviewing project designs and advising Facilities Planning Design and Construction group on projects specifications, and overall sequence of control strategies. Direct the ongoing service and maintenance of building controls systems. Lead the efforts to optimize existing systems and upgrades in order to improve the reliability and efficiency of operation. Provide guidance to Operations Management in end of life cycle product replacements, re-programming, field retrofits and upgrades, and general servicing of BAS and BAS software related to malfunctions. Troubleshoot and problem-solve to ensure proper operations of the building control systems. Monitor and direct the activities of outside contractors. Contribute to the strategic continuous improvement of the operations division by developing and maintaining BAS standards, providing expertise to preventive maintenance staff regarding optimal use of mechanical equipment, gathering data and creating, distributing, and analyzing relevant reports.
Requires an Associates degree in a relevant discipline and eight years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with automated digital HVAC building controls, preferably in an institutional, multi-building environment. Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry. Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems. Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings, control schematics, blueprints, electrical codes specifications, and diagrams, and translate those into physical applications for building control systems. Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools, and CMMS. Knowledge of relevant building, fire, plumbing, electrical codes, and applicable state laws and local ordinances. Ability to organize data, draw logical conclusions and to present facts, findings, and conclusion Demonstrated commitment to customer service. Computer skills (CMMS, Excel, Word, email). Ability to foster a collaborative, team centered environment. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse population. Excellent communications skills. Excellent time management skills. Excellent organizational skills.
