Working independently under the guidance of the Associate Director, position is responsible for programming, monitoring, installing, testing, re-commissioning, inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and programming building automation systems (BAS) including HVAC and other integrated systems. Other duties include updating and maintaining the graphical web interface that provides for systems monitoring and diagnosis and applying knowledge of multiple communication protocols including but not limited to BACnet, lon and modbus. Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
Leads projects that are small to mid-size in complexity, scope and cost involving IT and other university departments. Leads project reporting, schedules project execution, and facilitates meetings.
Designs and develops DDC programming and graphical interfaces.
Develops and implements sequences of operation for mechanical HVAC equipment.
Oversees scope development, work request initiation, scheduling, and inspection of work performed by university technicians and outside contractors, which includes proprietary work, licensed installations, upgrades, and maintenance and inspection of specialized systems.
Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and university directives related to systems operations.
Educates customers, consulting engineers, and other users on best practices and proper use and installation of systems, software, and devices.
Plans for responsive user interfaces incorporating JAVA, SML and HTML5 technologies and mobility needs (Smartphone and tablets).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Knowledge on HVAC System operation and troubleshooting.
Associate’s degree in HVAC, electronics, or Computer Science related field required.
The following is also required:
Must have at least four (4) years’ experience as a technician specifically maintaining, fixing, purchasing, installing, etc. with various EMS/BAS manufactures systems.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the university’s vehicle policy.
