Director of Information Technology Job Description
The primary role of every person at Currey Ingram Academy is to embrace and uphold the mission of our school. The Director of Information Technology will serve as a role model for leadership in developing and maintaining mission-driven endeavors of Currey Ingram Academy.
The Director of Information Technology reports to the Assistant Head of School for Finance & Advancement and is responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting all technology systems at the school. The Director of Information Technology is required to work with the Libraries & Educational Technology Director to ensure all teachers and students have access to appropriate educational technology resources. The Director of Information Technology is also responsible for ensuring that all school administrators and business office personnel have access to efficient and modern information systems.
Bachelor degree in relevant field and/or five-years of experience working in a similar capacity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent planning skills and attention to detail, initiative, and interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
Install, manage, maintain and upgrade the school’s computer networking infrastructure including but not limited to the following components:
Internet access and networking infrastructure
Campus firewall and Internet content filters
Network security and backup
Wireless networking components
Email and collaboration suite
All Servers, including File Server, AST Server, Filemaker Server, Helpdesk Server, Unifi Wireless Server, Diagnostics Server, Access Control Server, Filewave Server, Thermate Server, Tracer Summit Server
SIS and LMS databases
Business Office and Admissions databases
Printers, scanners, and copiers, including management of printer queues to appropriate devices.
Laptops, iPads, and desktop computers
Interactive boards and other classroom technology
The Mobile Device Management system (Filewave), used for managing all campus computers and iPads.
Tier 1 support of the Voice over IP Telephone System
The Campus Imaging System (DeployStudio), used for wiping and imaging all campus computers.
The campus video security system (Exacqvision), replacing, repairing and installing cameras as required.
Train, supervise and support IT staff to ensure all school systems are operational and efficient.
Support facilities management to maintain and upgrade security, access control, HVAC, and other systems as needed.
Research, procure competing bids, contract, coordinate, and supervise hardware and software vendors.
Work with the Assistant Head of School for Finance & Advancement and the Libraries & Educational Technology Director to refine the technology budget and to prioritize future system investments.
Negotiate leases or contracts for laptops, copiers, Internet and voice services.
Professional Development and Faculty Training
Ensure that all Faculty and Staff members are able to use the schools information systems.
Provide technology orientation training for all new faculty and staff.
Develop administrative policies regarding student use of computers and work with Division Heads to effectively enforce student policies.
Work with the Libraries & Educational Technology Director to build and document the computer science/programming curriculum.
