Posting Summary: Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
We have an exciting opportunity for a HVAC Installation and Repair Technician who performs journey level installation, repair, and maintenance on a variety of package and central heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Other duties include preventative maintenance; servicing, overhauling, and maintaining a variety of window and small package units or large central units; and determining equipment needs. The incumbent receives job assignments from a supervisor however most work is performed with little supervision.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of four years of experience in the HVAC trade, as well as a valid Journeyman HVAC License or higher is required. A valid driver's license, with a positive points balance is also required for this position. A working knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and of employed hand tools and diagnostic equipment is essential. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and schematics is required. Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills is also essential. HVAC Installation and Repair Technicians must be able to work nights and weekends on an as needed basis and to work an adjusted schedule as needed to meet deadlines. Some training or experience in building automation programs and field devices, as well as Boiler/Gas fired appliances is preferred. Working knowledge of both Metasys and WebCTRL is also preferred.
