Under minimal supervision, perform semi-skilled tasks in building maintenance requiring the application of general knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques, materials, tools and equipment. This position is an Essential Personnel position for emergencies and the selected candidate must be available for on call at any time.
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of buildings and equipment.
Perform required routine preventive maintenance and repair activities.
Perform routine and emergency repairs including correcting minor electrical malfunctions, repairing basic plumbing fixtures, pipes and fittings, replacing light fixtures, repairing doors and locks.
Assist in the preparation of various buildings components and systems for trades units and/or contractors; disassembles and install equipment and fixtures.
Repair equipment such as power tools, vacuum cleaners, buffers, fans, washing machines and driers.
Assist journey level trades personnel in skilled maintenance and repair work.
Assist in new construction and renovation work.
Perform minor repairs to exterior and interior walls, ceilings, floors, and other building surfaces.
Operate and ensure operational readiness and safety of tools, equipment, and building surfaces.
Clean work area upon completion of a project.
Assist and serve as back up to other trades.
Perform work as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED.
Three (3) years of related work experience.
Knowledge and background in moving and storage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ANDABILITIES:
Ability to work at heights up to 35 feet; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, supplies and/or exert force up to 70 lbs.
General knowledge of a variety of building construction or maintenance and repair practices and techniques used in the trade area where assigned.
General knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to the assigned trade areas.
Ability to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting.
Ability to work using personal protective equipment.
Ability to work in adverse weather or temperature conditions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license is required.
Ability to complete the following trainings as required: forklift operation certification, lock out tag out, fall arrest, confined space. MSDS, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, in-house OSHA and respirator training.
