Piedmont Mechanical, Inc. is seeking a Project Estimator for their Spartanburg, SC location. Candidate will be responsible for creating detailed cost estimates in the industrial sector consisting of materials, other sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other project related activities to assist Project Managers in bidding on or determining price of project.
Role and Responsibilities
The essential roles and responsibilities are outlined below:
Will be involved throughout the pre-bid, estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processes.
Perform a thorough review of the project specifications, scope of work and drawings.
Ability to develop detailed quantity take-offs, including equipment takeoffs.
Develop bid packages / contract scopes of work for subcontractors, evaluate subcontractor bids and issue contracts.
Performs construction plan review or other requirements as determined by project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all of the customer’s facility requirements.
Provides knowledge and consultation in the form of developing client solutions for the customer’s problems. Determines project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet the entire customer’s Building system design and installation requirements.
Prepares, finalizes, and reviews preliminary and/or final proposal.
Ability to develop “Order of Magnitude” budgets from concept drawings.
Prepares and reviews contract terms and conditions using standard contract templates when applicable.
Works with team members to solicit proper expertise in order to meet customer needs.
Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
Qualification and Education Requirements
Successful candidate must have relevant construction and/or field experience of a minimum 5 years in the industrial sector with duties to include:
Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans and specifications.
Basic understanding of Chilled/Hot Water systems, Steam/Condensate systems, Compressed Air/Natural Gas/Process piping systems and HVAC equipment/ductwork systems.
Strong communication skills and work ethic.
Proficient with all Microsoft Office related products.
Bachelor’s degree or two-year college/military training/technical school equivalent combination of experience a plus.
Experience with Estimation software a plus
Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
Random drug testing required.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Valid driver’s license.
Spartanburg, SC based position. Limited travel required.
