Sheridan is seeking a facility manager who will be responsible for the physical operation and appearance of the school’s campus and providing a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, parents, and employees. The successful candidate will be able to perform routine and timely maintenance tasks and manage outside contractors when specialized repair and maintenance is necessary. This is a one-person shop (with the assistance of a custodian) and we are looking for a candidate who can work independently and enjoys working in a school environment and regularly interacting with children. Five years of experience in building systems, facility operations, and maintenance is preferred along with general experience in several of the following areas: electrical, carpentry, plumbing and masonry. Sheridan is an independent, co-educational, K-8 school located in northwest Washington, DC, offering a progressive, concept-based curriculum that promotes social justice and utilizes Reading and Writing Workshop, Math in Focus and Responsive Classroom.
