Assist in providing customer service in the form of assisting maintaining, installing, servicing and repairing HVAC systems and other mechanical/electrical equipment as required to enhance the campus environment by making it as comfortable and inviting as possible for the University community. This position is training to become a HVAC Maintenance Mechanic after all testing and qualifications are met.
Primary Responsibilities :
Assisting to provide the most comfortable conditions for building occupants, coordinates activities with (Power Plant Operators) to assist maintaining effective and efficient system operations controlling environmental conditions in buildings. Assist in completing assigned work and provides supervisor with accurate, detailed records of work accomplished, equipment serviced, materials used, time allotted, etc., for inclusion in the CMMS facilities management system. Assist in checking and repairing equipment in assigned areas and makes adjustments as necessary. Assist in efficiently, courteously and cooperatively communicating and working with all NKU associates in the performance of assigned duties. Attend required training and learn necessary skill to become an HVAC Maintenance Mechanic. Attends safety/employee development training sessions as offered and schedules permit. Assist in responding to emergency trouble calls after regular working hours, on weekends and holidays, as required by supervisory personnel. Assist in performing basic electrical repairs: resetting breakers, replacing fuses, etc. Assist in reporting problems with electrical equipment or systems involving electric supplies. Assist in performing basic plumbing repairs to commodes, showers, faucets and related piping systems. Assist in reporting major problems to appropriate areas for repairs. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level of responsibility as assigned by supervisory personnel. As required by supervisory personnel, adjusts working hours and/or works any and all hours as needed to provide assistance to finish projects, to complete scheduled after hour assignments, and to otherwise meet the University's needs.
Graduation from High school diploma or GED Prefer vocational school training in HVAC general maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, etc. Basic computer skills are required; knowledge of computerized energy management systems is preferred. Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, and vehicles is required. Ability to work overhead, on ladders, on catwalks, and other elevations, and in confined spaces is required. Ability to perform medium heavy to maximum physical exertion on a regular basis and occasional lifting of 50+lbs.
