Job Details: We are seeking a Equipment Maintenance & Refrigeration Mechanic whose main function will be to maintain, repair, and install fan coils, air conditioning(air and water cooled split systems, package units & ductless splits) refrigeration systems, and select laboratory equipment. You will: - Assess job to be accomplished: reviews blueprints, diagrams, work orders; discusses project with customer; determines appropriate materials to be used; gathers equipment, tools and materials needed; prepares work area.
- Inspect and monitors the operation of precision and comfort cooling equipment up to 150 tons in capacity, chillers, cold rooms, refrigeration equipment, solid state and computer-based controls to ensure that all are functioning properly in compliance with codes and regulations.
- Perform maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of various Center systems and equipment (e.g., HVAC systems, fan coil units, chillers, environmental rooms, refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines).
- Respond to customer questions or requests demonstrating courteous and professional customer service.
- Maintain a clean, orderly and secure work environment. Ensures proper care and use of tools, equipment, supplies and materials
- Take necessary precautions to comply with institutional, departmental, or regulatory agency safety requirements.
- Maintain departmental records, reports and files as required. Documents time worked, work order status, and supplies needed for each assignment. Document refrigerant gas usage in compliance with all EPA regulations and Center policies and procedures.

You Have: - Minimum Education: High school, vocational trade school or equivalent
- Exp. 4 years or greater
- LICENSE/CERTIFICATE Required: FDNY Certs. of Fitness : G60, & F60. EPA Universal 608.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Ability to use mechanical/electrical testing equipment and chemical cleaning equipment (e.g., test gauges, leak detectors, voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, air-flow and pressure testing equipment).
- Ability to interpret and read equipment service manuals, schematics, flow diagrams, trade blueprints and specifications. Ability to operate acetylene torch, rigging equipment and jacks.
