University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a Senior Buyer (Facilities) to join the Department of Strategic Sourcing & Acquisition Services. The selected candidate performs procurement activities including all aspects of transactions from initiation to award recommendation in the area of Facilities and Operations Maintenance . Procurements include but are not limited to landscaping, carpeting, painting, roofing, chiller maintenance, HVAC and elevator maintenance.. Items procured may be specialized in nature giving rise to unique situations with complex specifications, limited market sources, and close price bidding. Drafts specifications for bids and proposals upon researching the end user's needs to ensure proper procurement, maximized competition, and proper equipment form and function.
Serves as liaison between campus and vendor community, supplying end users with information on sources, discounts, pricing and delivery provisions.
Researches market to determine if sole sources are justified and to develop new sources for supplies and services.
Communicates on and settles any differences on critical points and specific contractual provisions.
May evaluate bid and proposal responses to contract awards and debrief unsuccessful vendors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in related field
Experience: Two (2) years of materials management, purchasing, or procurement experience
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.

Hiring Range: Low $50K to low $60K - Commensurate with education and experience
