Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is currently seeking a Manager for Facilities Administration to provide management oversight for all aspects of Facility Administration in RSDM Newark operational areas including affiliated satellite sites across the state of New Jersey. Supervises the dental mechanics group and interfaces with University Facilities and Construction, University Facilities, Environmental Services and other RSDM departments. Assists with access control, safety issues, hazardous material issues and all other operational issues that may arise.
Plans, schedules and evaluates the work of personnel assigned; makes most efficient use of time and materials in support of RSDM clinical and academic efforts.
Evaluates estimates, contracts and requests for service; communicates to departments and Director for approval.
Manages work in progress to ensure adherence to plans, schedules, quality standards and safety requirements.
Develops and implements improvements in service delivery.
Maintains records for accreditation purposes, including preventative maintenance on all equipment.
Monitors charges for service from University Facilities and other internal groups to adhere to approved estimates, costs and work orders.
Participates in planning and managing of special events and projects.
Provides coverage for Director as needed.
Reviews work orders to determine scope of work and best approach for completion.
Assists in the tracking of approved projects and works in progress via electronic database; reports monthly on projects assigned.
Keeps records of material purchases and labor costs.
Participates in capital improvement projects including planning, monitoring and implementation of operations.
Assists Director to ensure that all mechanics adhere to applicable building codes and standards.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience in business administration; graduation from a trade school may be substituted (electrical, plumbing and/or mechanical systems).
Health care management or equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years of responsible experience in operations management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to demonstrate management of capital projects similar to a general contractor to bring projects to a successful conclusion.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Familiarity with spread sheets, data base and other computer applications.
