The primary function of the Facility Maintenance Tech is to preserve and enhance the appearance of the facility.
Such duties may include but not limited to replacing lamps and ballasts, painting, general carpentry, drywall repair, hanging pictures, flooring repairs, office moves, door hardware, ceiling tiles, mechanical repairs, assist with HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general building repairs & preventive maintenance work, and other duties in support of Commercial and Industrial Facilities Operations and Maintenance.
Perform general maintenance, installation and repair duties and perform a variety of duties relative to facilities maintenance areas of responsibility.
Ensures all appropriate building standards are maintained at a high level of quality.
Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines nature of problem, and executes appropriate solution.
Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
Coordinates work with outside contractors.
Assures code and building standards are met.
Works independently (i.e. with minimal supervision) as well as within the context of a team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
May require valid driver's license.
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
