DESIGNER/CAD OPERATOR III , Haystack Observatory-Lincoln Space Surveillance Complex , to participate in all aspects of site facilities and radar system upgrades and maintenance. Primary duties would involve working with site electrical and mechanical engineers to develop plans for fabrications of such things as small/large electronic sub-assemblies, transmitter high-voltage equipment installations, antenna structural fabrications, facilities and control room electrical and HVAC support. Will perform and maintain revision control of documentation/models and accurately measure and create CAD models of existing equipment. Some of this work will be performed at heights.
REQUIRED: completion of an apprenticeship program in engineering design and drafting technology and at least two years' experience or five-plus years' related experience with completion of college-level coursework in drafting; ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, assembly drawings, blueprints, product specifications, wiring diagrams, CAD drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T); ability to create drawing prints from part and assemblies following recognized standards (ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.24, ASME Y14.34 and ASME Y14.5.); familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) best practices; understanding of and ability to generate parts lists/bill of materials (BOMs) as they apply to their associated assemblies leveraging product lifecycle management tool; 3D modeling software experience, ideally using SolidWorks; experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Visio). SolidWorks professional certification would be a plus (CSWA, CSWP, CSWPA-Drawing Tools); and the ability to obtain and maintain tower climbing, first aid, and hoist operator certification.
