This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Trades/Maintenance Worker 2 position for the EOARC-Burns Station at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Trades/Maintenance Worker 2 will perform duties requiring specialized technical and manual skills in support of the EOARC-Burns Station and Northern Great Basin Experimental Range (NGBER). These duties cover a wide range of responsibilities including facilities maintenance and repair, grounds maintenance, vehicle/equipment maintenance and repair, construction project coordination, and farm and ranch operations.
A willingness to work in inclement weather is necessary. Worker must also be willing to walk, stand, and work while bending and stooping for extended periods. Must be willing to work from ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations such as roofs.
Required to work in an environment containing dust, odor, and high levels of noise. Incumbent may be required to work irregular, and/or weekend hours during certain periods of the year.
Three years of general building maintenance experience in one or more of the following trade areas: carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, and welding. NOTE: Some positions may require licensure or certification in a specific trade area.
Experience in one or more the following areas: Grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, construction, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, grounds maintenance, and fence building skills.
Basic farm/ranch mechanical skills and farm equipment operation skills, i.e. tractors, baler, cutter, rake, loaders.
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently to communicate with vendors, contractors and, building inspectors.
The ability to frequently lift or carry objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Ability to work irregular hours, night/early mornings, some weekends under adverse field conditions (wind, rain, snow, mud).
Successful candidates will be working by themselves or in small groups.
