To supervise and/or assign the job duties of a moderate to large support staff engaged in electrical, plumbing, welding and other duties as assigned.
This position will plan, layout, assign, schedule, monitor, and review the work of skilled support staff either on the job site or in related shop areas. Prepare and monitor the work schedules of support staff. Prepare estimates on man-hour and material requirements for completion of job assignment. Requisition, order and inventory materials, supplies and equipment seeing that supplies are made available when needed. Prepare materials for use. Interpret and explain specifications, blueprints, and job assignments to support staff and schedule duties. Conduct job inspections to assure adherence to job specifications and building and safety codes. Handle and resolve operational and personnel related work problems. Monitor the maintenance of cost, time, production, and material records. Perform related office work.
Interprets University policy to support staff. Enforces and instructs support staff in safety regulations. Evaluate the job performance of support staff including discipline and recommendations for discharge. Interview and recommend the employment of support staff.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
