Perform helper level assistance in support of the Plumbing Shop.The incumbent follows University safety rules and regulations at all times, along with established safety procedures.
The incumbent performs the following duties and responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Safely and effectively perform a wide range of helper level plumbing system tasks, including material handling and tool maintenance.
Ensures proper care in the safe use and maintenance of vehicles, tools and equipment.
Demonstrate a willingness to initiate productive work activity and accept responsibility for work assignments.
Assist other tradesmen in more complex work projects.
Must be available for after hours, special events and emergency call in work.
Must follow the department’s established customer service standards.
Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
When snowstorms occur, the helper is a “Core Essential Employee” who is mandated to augment the Grounds Department in the removal of snow and the de-icing of walks and steps.
Note: This position does not directly offer promotion to a higher level. However, there may occasionally be higher level position vacancies for which a person with higher level qualifications may apply and be considered in the normal interview and selection process.

Ability to work effectively around plumbing equipment.
Possess a high school diploma or possess a GED.
Ability to assist University plumbers by completing helper level tasks associated with plumbing related tasks.
Capable of carrying step ladders up or down several flights of stairs and be capable of working off step and extension ladders.
Capable of working with others in a team environment.
Ability to work with other trades personnel and customers.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
