Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Facilities Manager for University Facilities and Capital Planning. Under the direction of the Campus Manager, the Facilities Manager ensures the safe, efficient and effective operation and maintenance of all physical systems and real property at the ICPH/RBL or other NJMS Laboratory facilities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists the Campus Manager in the development and implementation of department goals, operation objectives and protocols, and adds value to all Institutional Planning and Operations (Facilities) provided services.
Interacts with the NJMS Director of Facilities for coordination of user needs in the RBL, ICPH and other NJMS Laboratory facilities.
Develops test protocols, monitors required periodic inspections and required reports, and provides oversight of staff Engineers of the RBL/ICPH facilities
Develops and manages the overall maintenance of the HVAC/Mechanical and Electrical Systems, as well as all other facility related systems throughout related facilities.
Establishes and oversees the maintenance and management of the CMMS, inclusive of demand work orders, preventative maintenance work and regulatory work order programs, as required.
Ensures accurate entry of all applicable equipment into the Physical Plant computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Oversees and schedules all outside vendors/contractors who enter to perform maintenance and repair of building systems equipment. Tracks all pertinent information for entry into CMMS.
Develops and executes Semi Annual/ Annual Emergency Tests to ensure facilities are ready to perform according to NIH requirements.
Prepares budgets for the maintenance, construction, environmental services, and other delivered services for all assigned buildings.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline, plus five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in plant operations, maintenance and/or construction with particular experience in a bio-containment or pharmaceutical laboratory, or similar environment.
At least five (5) years in a managerial capacity within a Healthcare, Research and/or Higher Education Facility.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to perform hands on tasks.
Troubleshooting skills related to BSL3/ABSL3 laboratory equipment and other facilities related equipment.
Professional Engineering Degree.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to pass the testing requirements to wear the applicable BSL3/ABSL3 personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
Valid Driver’s License.
