POSITION/TITLE: Warehouse Coordinator
LOCATION/DEPT: Emergency Disaster Services
REPORTS TO: EDS Director
FLSA CATEGORY: Nonexempt
STATUS TYPE: Full-Time
Maintenance of the EDS/DHQ warehouse in a manner that meets the EDS Department’s and the Division’s needs for storage and access of materials and information, according to policy and procedure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organize warehouse contents for proper storage and appropriate access by designated staff.
Develop procedures that ensure the safety and security of product, including the monitoring of locked storage and confidential areas.
Maintain an updated inventory of warehouse contents.
Receiving and storage
Assist with pick-up and delivery of stored, donated, or other departmental goods as necessary.
Receive corporate donation deliveries and assist with distribution.
Accept and monitor product from the City of Chicago.
Warehouse property maintenance
Monitor warehouse property and systems (including electrical, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC) on a regular basis.
Maintain building grounds according to a regular schedule.
Develop and implement schedule for general warehouse cleaning.
Develop a preventative maintenance plan for warehouse as necessary.
Provide assistance, on a pre-arranged basis, with other DHQ department areas.
Keep the Director of Emergency Services aware of any issues or concerns related to the operation of the warehouse.
Supervise volunteers and paid personnel assigned to the EDS warehouse during special events.
Participate in a backup schedule responding to after hour canteen call outs when no volunteers are available.
Receive, inventory, and store all food product to be used in the annual Christmas food box project.
Set up and participate in the Christmas food box production line and palletizing.
Drive truck to deliver Christmas food boxes to designated corps.
Additional responsibilities in a major disaster activation status:
In the event of a major disaster, must be willing to deploy if necessary.
Supervise additional volunteers assigned to the warehouse.
Manage expanded warehouse operations, specifically in the area of coordinating disaster products and donations storage and distribution.
Complete any additional assignments as needed by Director.
Assist with other department duties as needed and assigned.
Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification as a fork-lift operator.
Class C or CDL license required/MVR Clearance
2 to 5 years’ experience maintaining properties, including a good general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is required to do physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move product up to 100 lbs; drive a truck and other EDS vehicles; operate a fork lift and similar warehouse equipment; sit for lengthy periods of time; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands, as required in using facility tools and equipment, as well as standard office equipment and a PC. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to focus. The work environment for this position includes an office and warehouse environment with an average noise level and varying seasonal temperatures.
