The Summer Conference Assistant works at both Chalon and Doheny Campuses assisting with summer conferences and special events. This is a full-time position, non-exempt, seasonal position for the summer months only. The position begins in mid-May (May 13, 2019) and ends the first week in August (August 7, 2019). Compensation includes Room and Board.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs general office duties (typing, filing, answering phones).
Prepares Excel spreadsheets on groups in residence.
Organizes and maintains Summer Conference Assistants' office at both campuses.
Shares coverage responsibilities for the residence halls.
Prepares summer room assignments and rooming lists.
Responds to residence hall emergencies (i.e. elevator or plumbing problems, lock-outs).
Assists with special events (posting signage, directing traffic, checking A/V equipment).
Designs and creates Door Decorations for each visiting group.
Creates and posts directional signs and important announcements for the guests.
Collaborate with other MSMU Departments such as Food Service, Facilities Management, Housekeeping and Security.
Serves as liaison between the University and guests/groups.
Assists in other areas of Facilities Management (especially housekeeping) as needed.
Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
Organized and detail oriented with ability to solve problems under pressure.
Understand MSMU facilities, policies and emergency procedures.
Abilities and Skills:
Ability to live in on-campus housing and to work a variable schedule that includes: evenings, weekends and holidays, with on-call shifts and shifts that vary from week to week.
Ability to work with different personalities.
Personable, gracious with excellent verbal and communication skills
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be a recent MSMU graduate (current academic year)
Comfortable working with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, Publisher.
Work Location: Both Doheny (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon (West Los Angeles) Campus locations
