The Health Sciences Center at West Virginia University is seeking applications for two (2) open Campus Service Worker positions. These positions, under the direction of the Manager, Assistant Supervisor and/or Lead, is responsible for general custodial duties which include cleaning assigned areas at the Health Sciences Center (HSC). Work will be performed within established safety guidelines and regulations. This position will require some mandatory overtime.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Sweep, mop, scrub, disinfect, wax, and polish floors, hallways, stairs, elevators, and related fixtures.
Utilize brooms, mops, rags, brushes, and powered scrubbing, buffing, and waxing machines.
Clean and disinfect bathroom walls, floors, fixtures, stalls, mirrors, lavatories, commodes, and other plumbing facilities.
Replenish bathroom supplies including toilet tissue, towels, and soap.
Vacuum and shampoos carpets, rugs, and upholstery using commercial vacuum cleaners and shampooers.
Dust and polishes furniture, desks, table tops, file cabinets, bookcases, and related woodwork.
Empty and clean waste receptacles.
Transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
Clean area around disposal sites.
Wash and clean walls, ceiling, doors, windows, radiators, and ventilators.
Mix, dilute, and use commercial strength disinfectants, germicidal detergents, and other stringent cleaning solutions following established safety procedures. Calculate area to determine amounts of cleaning solutions required.
Move, set-up, rearrange, and dismantle desks, tables, chairs, displays and other related equipment using a dolly, hand cart, or physically lifting objects.
Work Hours: 7am – 3pm
Length of Assignment: 12-month position
High school diploma or equivalency.
Broad based custodial cleaning experience is preferred, but not required.
Ability to operate powered custodial equipment
Ability to learn how to apply custodial products such as cleaners, surface finishes, and disinfectants.
Ability to read and write and follow safety instructions.
Ability to maintain proper attendance levels and meet deadlines.
Ability to work overtime as required.
Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
Ability to operate a computer and accurately enter information.
Ability to bend, stoop and carry items up to 50 lbs as necessary.
