Assists in planning, organizing, directing and supervising assigned activities of the Engineering/Maintenance/Plant operations Department functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, Life Safety codes, compliance with regulatory standards to include Joint Commission, OSHA, and standards of HVAC, medical equipment, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Responsible for coordination of all fire and safety drills, to include working with local emergency management organizations. Coordinates and oversees building related inspections and follow-up to include fire inspections, and other safety related inspections. Assists in maintaining performance improvement activities within the Engineering Department and participates in CQI activities.
One (1) year certificate from college or technical school; or 2 to 3 (2-3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer knowledge.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Knowledge of hospital's management and utility systems management.
Must have prior supervisory experience.
Must have prior knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
Must be familiar with regulatory detail of policy and procedures.
