1.Maintain, repair, place, fabricate, install, alter, construct and design facility components that require the application of skills in planning, problem solving, and attention to detail, teamwork, communication and adherence to safety. 2.Perform routine maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings do no deteriorate. 3.Use plumbing knowledge to troubleshoot and repair miscellaneous plumbing issues. 4.Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1.Associates' degree. 2.Two years' experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of physical plant facilities. 3.Strong working knowledge in both the electrical and plumbing fields. 4.Proven track record in facilities. 5.Current Universal Certification by the EPA 40 CFR part 82, Subpart F. 6.NC Electrical License or Journeyman card. 7.Plumbing journeyman card. 8.Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension). 9.Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications, however excellent communication skills are preferred. 10.Computer literate. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 11.Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 12.Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with coworkers, visitors, building occupants, and the entire campus community. 13.Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
