The Facilities Manager organizes, assigns and manages theday-to-day activities of the assigned areas and or facilities within the PlantOperations and Maintenance Department. Activities of the FacilitiesManager include, but are not limited to, installation, repair and/or upgradingHVAC (including air handlers, ventilation rooms, etc.), Building AutomationSystems, refrigeration, power plant, Fire Alarm Systems, Pneumatic TubeSystems, Electrical Systems, Plumbing Systems, mechanical equipment (includingcompressors, vacuum pumps, automatic doors, etc.), patient equipment (includingbeds, stretchers, exam chairs & tables, etc.), programming variouselectronic video and audio systems and equipment, and other equipment orsystems relating to the maintenance of Baylor Scott & White Health toensure proper operation, function, compliance and safety for their patients,staff, and visitors.
Each Facilities Manager is responsible for some if not all of theactivities and responsibilities listed above based on location assigned andexperience. For example, a Facilities Manager may be responsible for HVACand Electrical activities, other assigned duties and employees in multiplelocations, while another might oversee the Power Plant, Lockshop and ElectronicSystems and employees at one location. Yet another manager may beresponsible all aspects of the department because of the size of the facility. Each manager is selected based on their particular set of skills, number of yearsâexperience and ability to lead and manage others.
The Facilities Manager will have budget and financialaccountability, staffing responsibility, work assignments, documentation andreporting, local, state and federal compliance, and appropriate HR relatedactivities such and hiring, performance appraisals, discipline, andprofessional development for their assigned geographic area(s) and skillsets. All managers are expected to comply with BSWHs high qualitystandards and to create an atmosphere of support, cooperation, and positivecustomer relations.
The ideal candidate for the Facilities Manager role will be ableto implement and learn any new department and/or BSWHs software programs. The idealcandidate for the Facilities Manager role will also possess strong technical,mechanical, supervisory, and problem solving skills.
