Northwestern College is seeking applicants for a supervisor of mechanical services to begin mid-August 2019. This is a full-time, 12-month position managing and maintaining the technical aspects of physical plant systems for college-owned buildings. The supervisor reports to the director of facilities management and is responsible for managing the overall operation of the physical plant, in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state and local regulations.
Responsibilities include scheduling and monitoring building automation systems, troubleshooting electrical systems, and supervising HVAC/electrical and plumbing personnel. This person is also responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks as needed and documenting labor and material used in the work order system. Experience in managing preventative maintenance programs for life safety systems, including fire alarms, is preferred. The person is also on a rotation for after-hour service calls and emergencies.
The successful candidate will have an associate’s degree or 1-3 years of post-high school training in building trades areas such as building automation, construction, electrical, plumbing, etc., with preference given to those with 5-7 years of progressive experience in building trades, system integration, troubleshooting, or installing and programming PLC/BAS controls systems, etc. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. The candidate must be a person with strong organizational and computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products; solid interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; and the ability to multitask. The candidate must be a self-starter with attention to detail and a team player willing to contribute in a collegiate environment.
