Position Summary Part-time position (50% time-base) available on or after July 1, 2019 for Facilities Services.
Under the general direction of the Project Architect, the incumbent will be primarily responsible for the preparation of architectural drawings and/or shop drawings and standard construction details, using the campus CAD system (AutoCAD) running under Windows. The incumbent will develop concept sketches, prepare presentation and design drawings, details and sections; assist in drafting, plotting and maintaining site plans, floor plans and master plans; record as-built conditions by means of contractor's notes or personal job site investigation; and maintain University blue prints corrected and up-to-date to reflect as-built conditions.
Job Duties Duties include but are not limited to: Collect data on changes to campus infrastructure, floor plans, site plan and master plan as well as mapping information, and input into the campus Windows based Geographic Information System (GIS), and utilizing AutoCAD drafting software, and AutoCAD Map software. Miscellaneous maintenance of campus Windows based CAD and GIS systems, including, directory maintenance, file copy and deletion, back-up, archiving, disk defragmentation, memory analysis and management, some creation and modification of files, and system troubleshooting. Assist in performing routine surveying work on campus facilities. Work from preliminary sketches, design notes and electronic as-built drawings to prepare design and construction drawings for minor construction projects or modification of existing structures. Typical projects include renovations, small buildings; parking lots; irrigation systems and other utility infrastructure systems. Construction detail examples include foundations; wall sections; structural connections; floor plans; elevations; plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems. Provide miscellaneous sketches and drawings, including isometrics, perspectives, and architectural renderings of proposed facilities as required. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Equivalent to possession of an Associate of Arts degree with extensive coursework in drafting technology, engineering and related disciplines. One year of specialized drafting experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the fundamental knowledge and abilities of a drafts person may be substituted for the required education.
Preferred Qualifications Experience reading blueprints and drawings. Experience utilizing AutoCAD and GIS software systems.
Required Qualifications Experience utilizing AutoCAD and GIS software systems. Thorough knowledge of the drafting methods, materials, techniques, instruments and symbols used in architectural, mechanical, civil and electrical drawings; general knowledge of engineering mathematics; general knowledge of the methods used in quantity estimating; working knowledge of the preparation of building plans, elevations and perspective drawings. Ability to legibly and accurately draw and modify construction and section drawings from rough sketches, verbal instructions and old drawings; ability to plot minor construction projects or modifications; ability to analyze space requirements, make routine surveys. Ability to prepare moderately complex drafting work; ability to make engineering calculations; and the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, coworkers and others.
Salary Range $1,564 - $2,749 per month plus excellent paid benefits. (Anticipated salary will be $1,564- $1,720 per month, depending on the qualifications of the successful finalist.)
Compensation Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
