The Rockefeller University seeks a Field Research Center Manager to join Field Research Center. The Field Research Center Facility Manager will oversee the daily operations, buildings and grounds maintenance, and support of the bird-keeping program and research projects at the Field Research Center in Millbrook, NY, in coordination with team members at the Field Research Center and main campus in Manhattan. Will be responsible for lawn mowing, snow removal, maintenance of walking trails and stone driveway, monitoring and maintaining fire alarms and fire extinguishers, repairing plumbing, changing light bulbs and ballasts as necessary, cleaning A/C units, and servicing equipment including a plow, tractor, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, a 150KVA standby generator, and a pickup truck. Will be responsible for maintenance and improvements of the Field Research Center grounds, when needed. The Field Research Center Facility Manager will maintain licenses and prepare for inspections by AAALAC, NYS Dept. of Health for Use of Living Animals License and Radioactive Materials License, NYS DEC, OSHA, and Duchess County Dept. of Health. Will prepare for Lab Safety inspections and coordinate waste pickup of hazardous materials, send monthly Public Water Supply operations reports for two wells and coordinate water tests, and maintain the Field Center service contracts including keeping records, as well as provide emergency response during severe weather events. The Field Research Center Facility Manager will work closely with the administrative team on the main campus to manage the Field Center yearly budget, submit weekly timesheets for hourly maintenance employees and order supplies. Other tasks will include collecting and distributing mail, answering phone calls and voicemail as necessary, stocking supplies, and maintaining inventory of equipment.
High School or Trade School Diploma required. Must have proven experience as a facilities manager and be well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices. Must be able to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles required. Must have working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as demonstrated leadership and project management skills. Must be able to complete other maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
