The Maintenance Engineer B, with minimal direction from immediate supervisors, installs operates, maintains, repairs and replaces building mechanical equipment. Is substantially proficient in one or more of the skill and knowledge fields listed below and partially proficient in others. Has knowledge of most of the tools, instruments, materials and their application in field of primary expertise.
Working Conditions: Must be available and capable of responding to irregularities during evenings and weekends ensuring 24 hour, 7 day per week coverage.
Operates, maintains, repairs and replaces refrigeration equipment, air conditioners, heating equipment, air handling systems for heating, cooling, and ventilation.
Operates, maintains, repairs and replaces plumbing, including water and sewage lines, pneumatic piping systems, all plumbing equipment and fixtures, pumps and valves.
Maintains maintenance records.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education and experience)
High School diploma, GED, or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
Training and/or developmental experience equivalent to a full apprenticeship as electrician, plumber, HVAC in one or more of the above knowledge/skill fields.
Must be a member of Operating Engineers Local 399, or join after a 90 day probationary period.

Knowledge of the tools, instruments, methods and standard trade/safety practices.
Ability to perform calculations applicable to field of expertise.
Working knowledge of chilled beams, heat recovery chillers, heat recovery wheels, hot water boilers, steam boilers, and chemical treatment for steam boilers.

Proficiency with mobile devices including iOS.
