Job Summary: Plans and directs all aspects of the Engineering department activities for the hospital (i.e. Cedar Crest, 17th Street, or Muhlenberg). Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with the hospital's established policies and objectives through continuous monitoring and improvement of the life safety, equipment and utility management programs. Ensures compliance to Joint Commission, DOH, NFPA, OSHA and other regulatory agency standards. Develops, monitors and reports on operational and capital budgets and costs within the department, alerts Administrator, Facilities Management of cost and labor over runs, makes recommendations and implements solutions to problems related to these over runs. Responsible for maintaining and verification of all PA State Labor & Industry / Department Of Health certificates and operations licenses that are filed accordingly (i.e. boiler certificate, elevators certificates, DOH licenses, DEP certificates, EPA certificates, and local AHJ permits and inspections). Also, all other AHJ's certificates licenses and inspections that impact LVHN operations for that particular hospital.
Minimum Requirements: Associate's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management business OR Licensed in a mechanical, or electrical trade, with five (5) years of hospital facilities management leadership experience, OR will consider equivalent experience of ten (10) years of hospital facilities management leadership experience in lieu of degree. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Person shall be licensed in a mechanical or electrical trade, or have seven (7) years of technical experience in hospital facilities management or maintenance department. Also, they shall possess leadership ability for a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a technical (i.e. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) field. Strong interpersonal skills required. Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management or business preferred.
Ten (10) years of hospital facilities management supervisory experience overseeing projects and/or trade persons.
