The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions enabling OHSU to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions.
This position is responsible for establishing goals and developing work procedures consistent with ITG policy. The Data Center Operations and Production Control Manager is responsible for various computerized systems to meet the needs of hospital, student, academic and financial operations on all shifts by scheduling, processing, printing and preparing for distribution requested reports, files, and electronic transfers.In order to meet production schedules all peripheral equipment must be secure, maintained, upgraded and replaced as necessary.It is the responsibility of the Data Center Operations and Production Control Manager to keep abreast of new developments and recommend change in a timely manner.The manager establishes work schedules and directs the activities of the Data Center Operations and Production Control groups to cover the 24 x 7 operations.This includes assigning work and monitoring performance to meet established goals, objectives and target dates.This position is responsible for hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary action and dismissal of personnel.
New operational processes and production jobs will be reviewed by the manager before live implementation. The manager participates in new system discussions , application testing, prior to application upgrade. Prepare system procedural, and production documentation, prepare problem notification documents, and provide general production support to ITG application managers, senior analysts, analysts, and programmers.This position will work closely with key ITG staff to ensure that all production systems are completed per the operation schedule and all customers have received their report and/or files inside and outside the OHSU campus on schedule or in a timely manner.The manager is the first line of support for other operations and production staff members for application and system analysis, problem solving, and processing backup support.
Supervises, coordinates and schedules for the DCST staff members to efficiently meet workload needs on all shifts; 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Conducts and manages activities of operation staff engaged in carrying out departmental objectives using knowledge of agency purpose, rules, regulations, procedures, and practices.
Assist with running, printing, preparation, and distribution of test and production jobs; Monitors supplies to meet operational use.
Schedules and coordinates maintenance of computer room equipment.
Schedules machine operations and input/output distribution.
Develops procedures and processes to ensure that the ITG managed OHSU data centers are maintained for optimal operation, including safety and security.
Oversees equipment layout including power and data installations in these data centers. Coordinates vendor and contractor work and access.
Provides overall direction, design and project coordination for data center expansion, renovation and relocation.
Develops plans and schedules in coordination with landlord, building engineers, architects, data center design consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, utilities personnel, OHSU facilities, and others to ensure suitable and timely completion of data center facilities.
Utilizes ITG Solution Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.
Resolves roadblocks to progress on major initiatives.
Write and disseminate new and updated documentation pertaining to work unit standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies. Assure that department standards and practices for providing end user support comply with OHSU policies, directives and guidelines. Included in this documentation are Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that are disseminated to customers and used as a basis for maintaining consistent service standards and establishing customer expectations. Write, maintain, and disseminate Operating Level Agreements (OLAs) that document the operating standards, processes and procedures between ITG work units.
Assure that production standards and practices for managing work units comply with OHSU policies, directives, guidelines and Code of Conduct. Given the OHSU environment, particular emphasis is placed on compliance with HIPAA.
Comply with ITG HR standard operating procedures as outlined in the ITG HR Manual.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or related field is required. Additional experience may be substituted for degree in another field.
Experience:
This position requires 2 years experience working in a computer related field either as an operator, production support analyst or production control specialist.
2 years experience managing enterprise data center(s)
2 years of direct supervisor experience.
Work experience organizing and recording job submissions, report distribution, and file system balances and lead worker or supervisory skills.
Must have experience in the required duties to maintain an enterprise data center(s).
Job Related Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiar with personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, Xerox DocuPrint 110 printers, basic UNIX and operating system language.
Basic knowledge of accounting and/or bookkeeping
Familiar with electrical distribution systems, HVAC, control systems, fire systems.
Education:
Graduate degree or related coursework.
Experience:
Work experience in a computer production shop with electronic mail inserter and check printing and handeling in a supervisory capacity.
2 years experince in ITIL practices
Management experience in a Union environment.
Experience in a health care setting, understanding user communities needs and requirements.
2 years budgetary experience and responsibility.
Experience taking strong or lead technical role in all areas managed by this position

Computer Aided Design
Disaster recovery planning, testing, auditing, risk analysis, business resumption planning, and contingency planning.
Ability to articulate OHSU's requirements to vendors.
Knowledge of healthcare, research and academic environments and applications.
