DUTIES: -Responsible for the management of repairs of SUNY Downstate Medical Center's air conditioning and refrigeration systems: specifically, windows units, perimeter fan coils, icemakers, refrigeration boxes, air distribution systems, and water-cooled environmental boxes. -Assign tasks, follow-up assignments, and supervise shops od CSEA skilled tradesman. -Provide contract management of Building Automation System across systems. -Manage PM and Service contracts associated with refrigeration/chill water systems. -Closely coordinate all work activities through the Computer Maintenance Management Program. -Coordinate construction and repairs with contractor's shops and hospital personnel. Maintain written records/logs on repairs, contractor's activities, and maintenance jobs. -Maintain logs required by Joint Commission on Accreditation of healthcare Organizations, NYS-DOH, and other regulatory agencies. -Order materials in a timely manner and maintain equipment in anticipation of mechanical failures in order to minimize down time. -Remain aware of changes affecting the operation of the physical plant. -Attend meetings pertaining to operations of maintenance of the plant and personnel management. -Assign task, follow-up on assignments and supervise a staff of two shops of refrigeration and sheet metal maintenance workers -Supervisor Preventive Maintenance Programs -Supervise maintenance contracts (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: Required Two years of college education in a related field of five (5) years practical experience in a related field. Additional, five (5) years as an HVAC/Refrigeration mechanic/BAS Controls Technician Must possess excellent communications skills both oral and written. A strong mechanical background is required A minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience relative to HVAC/refrigeration is required. Hands on experience in the maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration equipment is required Knowledge of BOCA and EPA refrigeration handing requirements. Ability to direct, coordinate and supervise employees. Knowledge of union contract agreements. EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification preferred.
