Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for leading and providing oversight for the maintenance team as assigned. You will ensure a safe and efficient execution of plant maintenance, maintain a safe and reliable facility, oversee maintenance contractors to ensure effectiveness, and achieve BASF expectations for best-in-class maintenance performance. You will also assure efficient and effective utilization of maintenance manpower, tools, and equipment and administer the maintenance processes and budget.
In this role, you will be expected to lead and manage all maintenance roles and processes within the plant. This includes all manufacturing, shipping, and lab equipment, building equipment and infrastructure, rotating, stationary, and instrument and electrical equipment located within the plant. You will also be responsible for executing the MPI maintenance process, establishing a reliability focus throughout the area and ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and safety excellence.

Formula for Success
Leveraging your education and journey-level experience in Instrumentation and Electrical or Mechanical maintenance, or another technical field, you will be responsible for day-to-day leadership and supervision of mechanical and E/I maintenance personnel and activities and provide daily assistance with maintenance planning & scheduling, reliability, and regulatory activities.
Your commitment to compliance and knowledge of safety practices, safe work methods and safety regulations will be evident as you ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and foster an injury-free work place by establishing high safety and housekeeping standards.
Demonstrating your excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), you will create periodic reports for safety, budget, audit compliance, etc.
Using your working knowledge of SAP, CMMS, or similar programs, you will participate in and implement MOCs (Management of Change), PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Review), PHAs (Process Hazard Analysis), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and other regulatory processes as required.
Your knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations, and codes will be useful as you maintain the mechanical integrity audit requirements related to internal and external audits for PSM, ISO, MIOSHA, and MDEQ.
Your working knowledge of preventive maintenance (PM) practices and philosophy, precision maintenance techniques, laser alignment, fixed equipment (tanks, piping, valves, fittings, etc.), rotating equipment (pumps, motors, etc.), fired equipment (dryers, heaters, etc.), and building systems (HVAC, etc.) will aid you in developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs and best practices for mechanical and E/I equipment.
Implementing your strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills, you will be involved in root cause failure analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Your ability to successfully work in a team environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships will be essential as you coordinate with operations management to minimize business impacts, work closely with maintenance planner/schedulers and facility gate keepers to coordinate maintenance activities. Additionally, you will regularly work with plant operations engineering, gatekeeper, shift supervisors, maintenance crew, outside contractors, and EHS.
Your ability to drive continuous improvement will serve you well as you support reliability processes to drive improvements, optimize costs, and improve asset effectiveness.
Your strong business acumen will be a valued asset as you provide input on the maintenance spending budget and strive to keep spending within the budget.
Utilizing your ability to properly plan, prioritize, organize, estimate, coordinate, assign, review, and evaluate the work of maintenance crews, you will work to minimize equipment downtime and lead the repair of equipment effectively and timely to keep production running.
