Cherryland is creating the position of Safety Coordinator to our team. You will report to our Safety Director and be responsible for providing efficient and effective coordination of all safety related issues including the following:
Coordinate and facilitate training and training tracking, both internally and third party.
Coordinate and facilitate safety on-boarding and orientation programs.
Maintain and update the Incident Management System.
Manage safety software, including reporting, metrics and data entry.
Assist with accident investigations.
Perform field observations, inspections and assessments.
Facilitate public safety education programs.
Maintain record keeping for OSHA and MIOSHA compliance.
Assist with and organize safety Accreditation program.
Maintain and organize safety documents system.
Responsible for keeping Safety Manual & EAP up to date.
Sits on the Safety Committee.
Keeps current on methods and procedures of position and is available for training in other positions, with the objective of becoming a more educated and valued employee.
Stays familiar with and observes all safety rules as set forth in the Cooperative Safety Manual.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be physically and mentally able to safely function in all aspects of this position. This position requires some field work and driving, as well as office work. Physical requirements include walking (all types of terrain), stooping, bending, squatting, reaching and lifting (up to 30 lbs), sitting and computer work.
Must have a high school diploma. Two-year college degree desirable. Background in safety and/or risk management desirable.
Will require some on the job course work that provides technical knowledge and safety certifications.
Must have a minimum of one year of electric utility experience in a relevant utility or utility services company (electric or gas distribution, telecommunications, HVAC, facilities’ locating, etc.).
Must be technically proficient in creating databases and excel spreadsheets, MSWord and PowerPoint.
Must possess professional verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable presenting in front of people for various types of presentations and trainings.
Must be able to satisfactorily pass testing to demonstrate technical aptitude and competency in above required skill sets.
As a condition of employment, must possess and be able to retain a legal unexpired Michigan driver’s license.
Some overtime may be required depending on workload.
Must demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, and be able to work cooperatively with others.
