Position Summary: The Project Manager works within the department of Facilities and Planning. This position reports to the Director of Planning and Construction and works with design professionals in architectural and engineering fields, the State University Construction Fund (SUCF) or the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), Facilities and Planning & Construction staff, and campus customers on the design and construction of campus projects. The Project Manager works closely with the aforementioned individuals and entities to provide the best possible design and subsequent construction within budget while minimizing the negative impacts of construction on campus operations. Incumbent in this position is expected to work in a team environment, identify project scope of work, solicit consultants for design, and assist in project design reviews of drawings and specifications. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the bidding process, managing the construction progress and facilitating the flow of information to and from the construction team. The salary for this position will be based upon experience and qualifications. The initial appointment will be for one year with possibility of renewal.
Required Qualifications Demonstrated successful experience required in project management, construction administration and inspection to include diverse experience such as architectural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing projects. Associates Degree or commensurate experience (e.g. military experience) in lieu of a degree. The ability to work with diverse constituents and exhibit cultural competency. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) required. Applicants must possess a valid New York State drivers license (or be able to obtain one upon hire), be able to understand and follow instructions and read, write and communicate.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree, military experience, association with related trade associations, professional license/registration, certifications, etc. are preferred. Working proficiency or hands-on knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems preferred. PMP certification preferred.
