ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Production Operations Specialist at the McCormick Place Convention Center. This position has overall responsibility for the facility’s production equipment rental program. In doing so, this position is responsible for promoting the program to events and working with event operations, contractors and/or clients to ensure that all equipment rentals are documented and billed for revenue purposes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities •Oversees maintenance history, usage and suitability of heavy equipment utilized by on site contractors. •Monitors suitability of equipment and recommends modification to satisfy the requirements of the users. •Establishes and maintains inventory system and procedures. •Develops a marketing plan that will promote and increase equipment rentals. •Develops an operational plan for the delivery and inventory of all equipment. •Coordinates equipment maintenance needs with appropriate trades. •Prepares weekly report for billing based on rentals. •Works with on-site contractors of equipment procedures, availability and prices. •Determines the amount of BUS switches used for every show event. •Assists Production Operations Manager with utility contractors to ensure proper maintenance and use of facility electrical and plumbing infrastructure and equipment. •Assists Production Operations Manager in maintaining accurate event history which includes any billed services, issues, or opportunities for future improvement of production efficiency. •Assists Production Operations Manager in development of truss layouts per client request. •Attends production related meetings and events with Production Operations Manager and assists as needed. •Exhibits high level of customer service and professionalism. •Delivers and maintains inventory on all equipment. •Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience • High School diploma or equivalent. • 3 or more years working in the convention industry. • 1 or more years’ experience with inventory management.
Skills and Abilities • General knowledge of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) safety standards related event production. • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills required. • Demonstrated knowledge of conference and meeting production requirements • Demonstrated understanding of union environments including the ability to understand and interpret union contracts. • Ability to work often-irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required by the events.
Computer Knowledge. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the knowledge of Microsoft Office products particularly Excel and other electronic record keeping databases. Ideal candidates will have experience utilizing AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks.
Certifications, Licenses, Registration No certifications are required. ETCP Certified Rigger is preferred.

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Will work irregular long hours often, including nights, weekends and holidays depending on events. No travel required.
