The Department of Facilities Maintenance & Operations – Utilities as the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for an Associate Director of Engineering. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

The Associate Director of Engineering, reporting to the Director of Facilities Services, Maintenance & Operations, will manage the daily operations of the utilities staff, coordinate, plan and manage activities, and formulate program goals and objectives. The primary responsibility of the Associate Director is to insure the campus physical property is safe and well maintained, provide leadership and training to staff and ensure the campus has an effective maintenance and improvement program in place. The Associate Director will also assist in the planning, prioritizing and supervision of facility renovation, construction and sustainability projects.

Description of Department: The Office of Maintenance and Operations is a detail orientated, fact pace environment maintaining 3.5 million square feet of residential and academic buildings. The five areas of responsibility are: the Main Office; Building Service; Building Trades: logistics and Utilities. The diverse staff of approximately 250 individuals are responsible for providing a clean, safe, working environment for the campus community.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience in construction supervision and planning, plant operations and maintenance
Proficient in planning, organizing and multi-tasking as required during plant operations
In-depth knowledge of all aspects of physical plant operations including construction, electrical, plumbing, mechanical diagnosis and repair techniques
Ten years’ experience
Two years supervisory responsibilities over trades workers, contractors or skilled maintenance specialists
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, pertinent codes, CADD and competence with Microsoft Office applications
Availability to respond to facilities emergencies at any time
