Under the supervision of the Maintenance Facilities Director, performs a variety of work, installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment in the maintenance of College properties and perform other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Installs, maintains and repairs equipment such as steam valves, steam traps, steam or water coils, steam or water radiators, unit heaters, water heaters, boilers, condensate and circulating pumps and piping & plumbing associated with water and heating/steam lines.
Provide preventive maintenance to all fan coil units, boiler units, air compressors, HVAC packaged rooftop units. Change air filters, belts and grease.
Responsible for cleaning residential boilers.
Troubleshoot and replace fuses, coils and contactors on mechanical equipment.
Daily inspection of all mechanical rooms, report back to supervisor of any issues.
Install, repair and service electric motors and pumps.
Daily inspection and treatment of swimming pool & rowing tank.
Remove, install & repair appliances.
Replace fuses & electrical switches.
Install and repair acoustical drop ceilings.
Install door signs and name plates.
Perform routine repairs such as unclogging toilets, sinks or urinals, troubleshooting and repairing when possible, water leaks, leaking faucets and water fountains, changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
Clean flat roof drains, gutters, and leaders when necessary.
Maintain tools and equipment necessary for work.
With approval of the supervisor purchase supplies and materials necessary, to complete projects.
Perform other maintenance work and assist others as directed.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED. Three to five years of experience in heating and air conditioning skills and a variety of maintenance skills preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, heaving lifting, moving furniture, and working in tight spaces. Must be able to safely use tools, equipment and work from ladders and scaffolding. Ability to complete all training required by the College.
