Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Formulates, implements, and monitors facilities management policies and programs. Develops plans to meet objectives and deliver results. Manages fiscal, physical and personnel resources and may manage multiple facilities and personnel.
Under the General Direction of the Director of Building and Administrative Service, the Assistant Director of Facility Management (ADFM) is responsible for operation and maintenance of the UCOP Consolidated Campus in Oakland comprised of the UC owned 1111 Franklin Street building & the leased 1100 Broadway Building as well as general oversight of remote UCOP facilities in Riverside, Sacramento and Washington DC. The primary UCOP Campus is comprised of approximately 360,000 square feet of space occupied by UCOP Staff serving systemwide oversight and management activities, and affiliated administrative and leadership functions.
Works with other BASC units including Occupancy & Space Management, Real Estate & Financial Management, Customer Services, Event Management and Capital Projects to ensure goals are met and the overall work of BASC is accomplished to the highest standards and meeting all UC policy and legal standards.. Oversees code required fire and life safety requirements, inspections and certifications for the building and reports on status of same on a regular and periodic basis.
Establishes and oversees health and safety standards for the physical facility. Coordinates with local, state and federal code and law enforcement to ensure the wellbeing of all UCOP staff and visitors. Take a leading role in management of business continuity planning and emergency response planning and event management for all UCOP locations and in particular the Oakland Consolidated Campus.
Ensures all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection, meet University and organization standards. Identifies problems and develops solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing project scope. Identifies proactive maintenance and reactive repair activities for all building systems.
Selects, develops and evaluates staff. Manages training of direct reports and other UCOP staff in related areas or in support of facility use.
Ensures project requirements are defined, building management contract and contract changes are negotiated, operating budgets established and the financial terms and conditions of contracts are identified. Ensures the organization occupancy needs are met. Monitors adherence to master plans, budgets and schedules. Participates in the development of policies and procedures (e.g. - creating a policy on access for visitors to the building)

Broad knowledge in the areas of facilities management, space planning and allocation, security, fire and safety and emergency preparedness. Education
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. License/Certifications
LEED green associate or similar certification
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary: The recommended hiring range is $120,000 to $135,000, commensurate with experieince.
