The Facilities Manager at IANY will have an integral role withing the school staff and will have come to have intimate knowledge of the facility. The successful candidate will have input into facility rentals, security, and school safety protocols. Additionally, the Faclities Manager will be proactive and anticipate necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the facility including exterior entrance, kitchen, gym, classrooms, library, roof, administrative offices, and other spaces within the facility, as well as respond to and prioritize requests from faculty and Administration. Coordinate necessary repairs in a timely manner with Director of Finance and Operations, when necessary and appropriate, with landlord.
Manage the physical plant and ensure all useable spaces are in good condition and safe for use by students, staff and visitors.
Ensure spaces are kept clean and clear of obstructions throughout the school day.
Assist faculty and staff with keeping classrooms clean and disinfected as students transition throughout the facility.
Survey the facility daily and catalog necessary repairs.
Prioritize maintenance & upkeep of facility with DoF and HoS input.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Experience as FM desired. Particularly in a landmark building.
Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general handyman work required.
Familiarity of FDNY and DOH/DOE regulations and safety protocols a plus.
Attention to detail and excellent organization skills required.
Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities from various constituents.
Willingness to take and pass FDNY and DOH certification exams necessary.
Candidate must submit to and pass DOH required background check.
Willingness to work in a start-up environment with commitment to a collaborative, team-based work environment.
Strong inter-personal skills a plus.
