Facilities Mechanical Maintenance Technician (2002120) - Wyandotte, MI
Our successful candidate will be part of the Wyandotte Site Services Maintenance Department. The Site Services Maintenance Department maintains office buildings, laboratories, plants, warehouses and overall facilities for the Wyandotte site.
Job responsibilities include:
Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment including:
Hydronic Heating & Colling system repairs.
Steam system trouble shooting & Repairs.
Industrial air handling systems- Supply& Exhaust
Welding and pipe fabrication
Performs tasks under general guidance of a Maintenance Supervisor.
Demonstrates a team-oriented demeanor conducive to all BASF goals.
Maintain good attendance history
Demonstrates basic verbal and written communication skills.
Interacts effectively within and outside the team/work group
Works in a safe manner and adheres to all safety regulations.
Perform crane assisted work at elevated heights
Works with maintenance supervision, other technicians, engineers and production personnel to design plant equipment and modifications
Improve equipment reliability by maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting and utilizing all resources available. Findings reported to supervision with appropriate recommendations
Support, maintain and improve preventive maintenance and Mechanical Integrity Program to insure equipment reliability.
Responsible for SAP requisitioning of replacement parts from site special spare parts, as well as obtaining outside sources to replace, upgrade or implement new equipment designs.
24 hour / 365 day on-call support for production demands.
Willingness to work overtime, on-call, after hours and weekends when needed.
Actively participate in plant safety meetings.
Works within BASF site and corporate procedures.
Valid driver's license required as employee will be driving company vehicle
Physical requirements of the job include:
Requires lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 25 lbs
Requires bending, kneeling, squatting, and crawling
Requires wrist turning and finger manipulation
Requires ability to climb vertical, fixed ladders with ladder cages
Requires ability to climb portable step and extension ladders
Requires the ability to push and pull up to 25 lbs
Requires ability to twist, turn and reach above shoulder level.
Requires simple to firm grasping ability

High School Diploma or GED
3 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
1 year of experience performance maintenance and repair of pumps and motors
1 year of welding experience
1 year of experience reading mechanical blueprints
1 year of experience with email management (open, read, respond)
Must have a valid driver's license
Associates degree from an ABET accredited college or university
5 years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC
HVAC EPA Universal Recovery Certification for refrigerant
Certifications in welding, HVAC, machine repair, machinist, or other related trade
