JOBSUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the AssistantVice Chancellor-HVAC Services, this position oversees all operations and maintenance/repair activitiesaffiliated with heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems on the UT HealthScience Center campus. Additional duties include supervising the maintenance/repairactivities for laboratory fume hoods and biological safety cabinets, reviewingcontract specifications, approving invoices related HVAC maintenance, andreviewing mechanical specifications of campus and capital project prints.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and reviews the activities of the in-house/contract workforce in the maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems/equipment and supervises all HVAC staff.
Oversees equipment trouble diagnosis, improves equipment performance, conducts equipment failure analyses, chooses between maintenance and purchasing options, sources tools equipment and supplies, and conducts employee evaluations.
Conducts employee disciplinary actions, hires and promotes employees, trains and develops employees, and prepares work schedules.
Determines required equipment, parts, materials, etc.
Schedules annual/semi-annual inspections of all equipment.
Establishes safety training with campus safety officers.
Reviews construction documents.
Develops/updates the Defer Maintenance list.
Collaborates with state and local inspectors and other enforcement agencies.
Ensures that UT is compliant with regulations and inspections.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
