Supervises assigned design and construction projects for the hospital, including new construction, renovation, remediation, major repairs. Coordinates schedules, shutdowns, relocations, service interruptions, by working with contractors/Plant Operations staff and hospital staff. Maintains continuous communication with Directors, Managers, Supervisors regarding project planning schedules. Ensures a consistent quality of work is performed by all contracted vendors working at Wesley Medical Center. Provides consultation to hospital staff regarding design and construction matters for specific projects. Maintains a working knowledge of current Life Safety Code and other regulations that impact operations, design/construction, and patient/staff safety. Implements interim life safety measures as required. Coordinates all projects with the Safety Director and Security as necessary. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by senior management.
Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs.

Reviews and prepares hazardous waste manifests when necessary in conjunction with Safety Officer
Manages both satellite accumulation and storage containers
Maintains a working knowledge of current Life Safety Code and other regulations that impact operations, design/construction, and patient/staff safety
Implements interim life safety measures as required. Coordinates all projects with the Safety Director and Security as necessary
Meets the expectations and assumes accountability for all assigned job responsibilities and balances unexpected tasks while performing on-going responsibilities under ordinary direction and minimal supervision
Participates in planning of all designated projects and works closely with staff, Architects, engineers and contractors to develop plans, documents, schedules that will meet hospital ’s operational demands
Establishes project budgets to control costs and ensure maximum economy and efficiency, both for internally managed projects and contractor managed project
Consult with and seek necessary approvals from senior management for major renovation projects, including those requiring a capital al location
Inspects all work in progress of a project which may affect job quality, schedule, costs, and adherence to approved plan
Consistently adhere to regulatory compliance including inspections, surveys, certifications, documentation requirements, and related matters
Authorize payment of funds for all outside contract or service work performed to ensure the timely payment of all such services
Establishes and maintains project documentation system to record work history, material utilized during projects, inspection reports, costs expended for each project
Maintains a working knowledge of the continual changes and requirements in the various regulatory codes and/or agencies governing the physical plant, e.g., construction, life safety code, fi re safety
Identifies any education needs for hospital staff regarding regulatory matters and coordinate related programs with hospital leadership
Maintains satisfactory working relationships with Plant Operations Managers, Supervisors and staff, as well as hospital Leadership group
Serves as primary contact person with Corporate Design and Construction Group regarding matters relevant to Wesley Medical Center
Monitors the performance of newly installed work order system to insure maximum utilization of the system for customers and Plant Operations staff
Attends assigned in-service/education programs and other programs relevant to facilities management and construction management
Coordinates life safety measures throughout the hospital with Safety Director, serve as liaison between hospital and state/local officials regarding applicable codes and regulations
Serves on hospital Safety Committee and other committees as assigned
Develops project budgets, anticipates financial aspects related to construction projects, and participates in development of department operations budget and annual capital renovations budget for the hospital
Manages assigned projects within established budget and time frames and prepares periodic reports related to budgetary performance of projects
Recommends qualified contractors to work on assigned projects and ensures contractual provisions are met and satisfy established standards of hospital policy and building codes
Assumes accountability for identifying problems and issues, generating solutions, and anticipating effects of decision; Responds to changing work expectations by altering established plans, objectives and reprioritizing as necessary to meet new expectations of any assigned project; Identifies potential problems with any project and briefs senior management on findings and solutions
Coaches and recognizes staff to continually improve and grow; Demonstrates professional conduct at all times; Acts as resource and role model to peers, co-workers and other hospital staff; Seeks new responsibilities and pursues opportunities for personal development;

Properly handling and processing hazardous chemicals and waste as needed-trained annually

Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification
Hazardous waste training within six months of hire and renewal of subject matter annually
Post high school education in a related field
Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible health care experience, preferably in a hospital
Advanced technical education

Demonstrates understanding of job relative to hospital operations
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Project management skills
Knowledge of life safety codes and building codes in health care facilities and health care technology
