HMC CSS IT SYSTEMS has an outstanding opportunity for a full time day shift FACILITIES CSS IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (SENIOR COMPUTER SPECIALIST).
The Facilities CSS IT Systems Administrator reports to the CSS IT and AV Manager and works directly with Harborview departmental staff to support and enhance non-clinical IT systems used throughout Harborview Medical Center. This person is a system administrator for servers and client applications, a training and support resource for end-users, and business analyst/consulting resource for departmental managers. This individual is a member of a small team that supports a broad array of systems including building access control, security video, HVAC, point of sale, telephone systems, parking, and many others. Technical acumen, problem solving skills, flexibility in the face of changing priorities, and impeccable customer service are the hallmarks of the successful candidate.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: •Assess the computing needs of customers and departments and identify appropriate technology and procedural solutions •Perform system administration functions in a complex Windows server environment that includes multiple database, application, web, and file services. •Install, configure, secure, test, and maintain new server hardware, operating systems, application services, and client software. •Implement challenging, vertical market software in a restricted environment, adhering to security policies and working with vendors to get software to run with least privileges. •Train end users and troubleshoot issues. •Collaborate with the enterprise I.T. teams to ensure smooth hand-offs between functions handled by the different I.T. units. •Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS •Advanced skill in Windows Server system administration to secure public-facing servers, configure and manage Windows networking and firewall, troubleshoot and resolve performance, connectivity, and compatibility issues, and automate processes using various scripting tools. •Experience with Windows 7 and Windows 10 systems to be able to deploy client applications, diagnose 32-bit/64-bit compatibility issues, create/recreate user profiles, automate functions in batch, VBScript, and/or PowerShell, and identify Active Directory related issues. •Experience with MS SQL Server system administration strong enough to configure automated database backups, restore databases, and troubleshoot general SQL Server issues. •Working knowledge of IP networking to be able to implement secure server access in public IP space, identify network performance and security issues using common diagnostic utilities, configure and test firewall appliances, and troubleshoot firewall-related connectivity issues. •Exemplary problem solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS •Experience in a departmental or line-of-business IT unit •Experience supporting security systems such as IP cameras and recorders, access control, or alarms •Experience supporting or scripting phone call automation systems •Experience supporting cloud-based services and applications •Experience with HIPAA, FERPA, PCI-DSS, or similar data security regulations
Standards of Performance Technical Responsibilities Provide advanced system administration duties and all levels of application support for systems used within Harborview Support Services departments, including but not limited to: 1.Security: Honeywell access control system, Avigilon security video recording systems, Report Exec incident reporting system, Bosch panic alarm system, etc. 2.Communications: Amtelco telephone system, pagers, smartphones, PowerShell, and SQL scripting, etc. 3.Engineering: Johnson Controls, HP large format plotters, various proprietary client software, etc.
Operational Responsibilities 1.Consult with department leaders to assess new and existing applications. Make informed system lifecycle recommendations regarding upgrading, replacing, and decommissioning systems based on departmental requirements and goals. 2.Evaluate and recommend specific products and vendors based on departmental needs and UW Medicine IT standards. 3.Coordinate with UW Medicine IT Services and with University of Washington IT to leverage existing services and to ensure that HMC Support Services IT systems conform to all appropriate standards and policies. 4.Manage projects and tasks to completion.
