Building Mechanic II (8:00am-4:30pm, M-F)

Requisition Number: S_200625 Department: Housing: AS Facilities Operations-1136 Description of Work: Maintain, repair, replace and perform new installations on building architectural, mechanical and utility systems; i.e., plumbing, HVAC, hardware, furniture, doors, fixtures, etc. Assist Building Mechanic III with repairs regarding major mechanical systems and dining service equipment. Shares responsibility in monitoring the building energy management system. Provides various levels of skills pertaining to planning, research and design relating to new and replacement maintenance projects. Participates in the supervision of student workers. Maintains compliance with current State and Federal codes and regulations including EPA, OSHA, plumbing, etc. Maintains records and reports, read schematics, construction prints and manuals as needed. Hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. plus on-call as required by Facilities Manager. This position is considered essential to our operation. Minimum Required Qualifications: High school diploma plus four years experience in relevant trades field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of how mechanical and architectural systems function, including the ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, manuals and mechanical diagrams. Must demonstrate the ability to perform journeyman level skills in one or more of the trades i.e. plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, etc. Must demonstrate the ability to train and direct student staff. Must demonstrate knowledge and commitment to safety. Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree in a related field or apprenticeship program that includes theory and on the job work experience is preferred. Demonstrated understanding of Housing’s commitment to customer service and teamwork is desirable. Posted Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience Job Type: Full-Time
